Rural charm with a twist

A picture postcard location amid silent beauty and luxurious facilities – no I’m not talking about the south of France, Scandinavia or even England’s Lake District.  All this is available on our own doorstep.

Idyllically located in an area of outstanding natural beauty at the foot of the Mourne mountains and adjacent to the Carlingford Lough, Lurganconary Organic Farm offers living Poetry as an environmental haven for nature’s charm.

The organic farm hopes to be fully operational later this year and the previously derelict cottages have been restored in the same eco-friendly fashion.

The cottages themselves are within walking distance of the well known blue flag Cranfield beach and the historical Norman village, Greencastle.

For first time visitors to this site of natural beauty, prepare for a mouth-opening experience at the top of the steep hill as you witness the huge dam ringed by dramatic mountain panoramas and the famous Mourne wall.

If you want to ignore the outside world entirely and stay at Lurganconary there are various hiking trails marked out within the farm estate where you can enjoy the woodland sights and sounds.

Angling is available on the Whitewater River on the farm estate, offering opportunities for salmon and sea trout fishing.

Back at the cottage you will find everything you need for your stay – there is even a picnic rug and knapsack provided to enable you to dine al fresco and sit among the wild bluebells to savour the charm and tranquillity.

In the garden shed you will find a barbeque, complete with charcoal and matches, while under the sink there are two boxes of plastic outdoor tablewear and even ice cubes and an ice bucket to keep your wine chilled.  What could be more perfect than relaxing in the garden with a bottle of wine, especially if the sun is shining.

If the rain comes there is the spacious living room which comes equipped with tv, dvd and music system.  There are also a number of books provided as well as board games if you want to stay away from modern technology.

The charming cottage merges the old and new magnificently and boasts a fully equipped modern kitchen and twoo spacious bedrooms, each sleeping two in double or twin beds with ensuite bathrooms.  Luxury bed linen and towels are provided and for those staying longer, there is a separate laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.
